Selecting carefully our seeds may make all the difference between a successful garden or a total failure. It is in fact the genes within the seed that will determine what the plant will be: the size, it's resistance to insects and diseases, the roots propagation, the stems, the leaves, the flowering etc.

Two varieties are available on the market. The varieties which are open pollinated, also called heirloom or traditional seeds, are products from parents selected at random by nature. You may produce these seeds yourself, sowing them afterwards: the plants will then be most likely the same as the previous generation.

Hybrid seeds or F1 seeds are produced while crossing plants of stable lines having coveted characteristics.F1 hybrid has a special quality called hybrid vigour, which is the capacity of growing faster and more vigorous than one or the other of it's parents.

F1 hybrid are often more expansive than the seeds open pollinated, but the output will correspond to the purchasing price. By selecting carefully the hybrid seeds for the characteristics that you are looking for such as flavour, resistance to diseases and insects, resistance to frost or heat or any other climatic condition in your area, will help you in succeeding with your garden.

Cutting is the most efficient and productive way, actually known to multiply plants. In fact, almost everyone has already done, perhaps without knowing it, a multiplication of plants. It's what you have done the last time you have put part of an indoor plant in water or humid soil to afterwards plan out the rooted stem in a compost.

The output of plant multiplication will be the exact copy of the mother plant. So,cuttings will give you a plant that has all the characteristics of your favourite plant.
