> MEDIUM

The artificial propagation medium is a sterile medium generally made of
one or more of the following components : sphagnum moss, perlite,
vermiculite, expanded clay, rock wool, coconut fibre etc.
Mixed fibres medium insures an equal and rapid growth of the roots, an
easy drainage and also the possibility of being washed out to avoid any accumulation of nutritive elements. An artificial medium should be of coarse texture, light and spongiest. Therefore, the mix should allow a good drainage while retaining enough humidity and air as well as providing an adequate environment for easier rooting.
Artificial medium may contain some or no nutritive elements.
So, they should be, in some cases to avoid deficiencies, fortified at the very beginning and afterwards they should be fertilized frequently with a liquid fertilizer or a soluble fertilizer of type N-P-K which will contain all secondary and minor elements.
