> HYDROPONICS

In an hydroponics system, we use inert medium that contains no soil and no nutritive elements. All these elements will have to be provided by a nutritive solution. This solution circulates or floods the roots at regular intervals, it also provides a supplement of oxygen that moves around the roots, facilitating a faster absorption of the nutritive elements.

Hydroponics is a precise technique and is less indulgent than the soil cultivation. Soil acts as a pad to the nutritive elements, retaining them longer than in the case of an inert medium used in hydroponics'. Some more advanced system do not even need the use of a medium. The roots are simply floating in the air and are sprayed with a nutritive solution. The compartment of nebulisation is kept in darkness to avoid the formation of seaweeds which would be in competition with the roots. This type of hydroponics is called aeroponic.
